Product Description
Almejas are the famous plump white clams harvested in the cool waters of Galicia. They are highly prized - even at a restaurant in Galicia they are not inexpensive. Canned seafood as a supreme delicacy in Spain. These clams are harvested by hand from the tidal beaches of Galicia. Only the biggest, plumpest clams are selected by Conservas de Cambados for canning. They are then carefully cooked in sea water, then placed one-by-one in a tin and covered with briny water. The result is a clam that tastes like it was just served fresh in a restaurant in Galicia. Here they are prepared with fresh 'setas', aromatic mushrooms that add another dimension of flavor. The best way to serve this treat is simply - heat gently and serve with fresh crusty bread. The seas off the coast of Galicia in Northwest Spain are cool and rich in nutrients, making them an incredible fishing ground. Conservas de Cambados is located close to one of Spain's largest Ras (estuaries), known as the 'Ra de Arousa'. Their facilities are very close to where the seafood is harvested, so they are able to use the freshest fish and shellfish available.
